Gold-plated silver earrings
Gold-plated silver combines two advantages: the gold colour on the surface and 925 sterling silver underneath instead of a base metal. In this small selection, all earrings are gold-plated sterling silver.
The models
- Hoops: hinged hoops, the 2 cm Pirate hoop, teardrop shapes and hoops with mother-of-pearl or colourful zirconia.
- Olive leaf as an earring and hoop by Mother Nature Jewelry from Greece, cast from real leaves.
- Adriana: handmade hoops from Peru.
- Gisela: teardrop earrings with moonstone from India.
- For special occasions: long earrings with cultured pearls, Brianne and Indigo with zirconia.
- Small: round studs, the Maja crescent and Ora with motifs.
How long does the plating last?
That depends on the thickness of the gold layer and on how you wear them. Sweat, perfume, chlorine and friction put the most strain on it. If the gold layer becomes thinner over the years, what shows underneath is silver, not another metal. Clean the earrings only with a soft, dry cloth; silver polishing cloths and dips wear away the plating.
