The design of this ring was inspired by the"Greek Key"whose ornamental pattern consists of continuous and endlessly repeated vertical and horizontal lines. This pattern has been used artistically as a decorative border on buildings, clothing, pottery, and other artifacts.

In this context, Michael Kalopoulos, a Greek scholar of religion, discovered that meanders were not just meant to be a decorative symbol for use in art. On the contrary, the historical and mythological origins of the meander showed that it was a particular hold used in ancient Greek gymnastics, particularly in the sport of wrestling. in"pankration,"a Greek martial art that was a popular event at the inaugural Olympics.

As the drawing in the photo shows, the design is based on depicting the shape of two hands joined into a handle. The meander symbol was a reminder that literally and figuratively, people had the ability to confidently face whatever happened on their life path.
