«I am Mohamed, 41 years old, jewelry craftsman from Niger. I have been making and creating jewelry from the Tuareg culture since I was 15 years old. Even as a small child, I always wanted to help my father make these unique pieces of jewelry. But he really wanted me to finish school and get my degree. When the time came and I was able to help my father, or rather was allowed to, I sat next to him every day and watched closely what he did and how he worked. He explained to me everything about making jewelry and step by step I became a real professional like him. I was eventually able to pass these techniques on to my younger brothers. Since my father is already 75 years old, I took over the workshop with my brothers, uncles and other acquaintances, women and men, and it gives me great pleasure every day to grind silver, ebony and other materials with my team of 8. to be able to polish, process and produce a unique piece of jewelry.»
